Spending limits, withdrawals and account limits

An overview of transfer limits, card spending limits, ATM withdrawal limits, contactless payment limits, and how many accounts you can open.

Transfer limits

There is no limit on the amount you can send or receive via SEPA transfers. Your account is fully verified, so both incoming and outgoing transfers are unrestricted.

Card spending limits

Every debit card has a spending limit that controls the maximum amount you can spend within a given time period. These limits exist to protect your account from fraud and to help you manage your finances.

How spending limits work:

  • Limits apply per rolling period (e.g. the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days) or per calendar period (resets on a fixed date, such as the 1st of the month)

  • The spending limit per card can be up to €10,000 per 30-day period (default setting — your actual limit may differ)

  • You can view and adjust your limits in the banking dashboard under Cards

  • You can lower spending limits per card, but you cannot raise them above the maximum set by the account provider

  • Spending limits are shared per cardholder — if you have two cards, they share the same limit

Your card will only work if your available balance covers the transaction, even if your spending limit has not been reached.

ATM withdrawals

You can withdraw cash at ATMs with your physical debit card. Key details:

  • The ATM withdrawal limit is a fixed amount per account holder (typically €3,000 over a 30-day rolling period)

  • This limit cannot be changed — it is set by the banking partner

  • ATM withdrawals count toward your card spending limit

  • If you have multiple cards, the withdrawal limit is shared across all of them

  • ATM fees: Withdrawals within the SEPA area are free. Outside SEPA, a fee of 2% of the withdrawn amount applies

You can check your current withdrawal limit in the banking dashboard under Cards → select your card → Settings.

Contactless payment limits

Physical card contactless (tap) payments have the following fraud-prevention limits:

  • Single payment: Maximum €50 per tap without PIN

  • Cumulative limit: Maximum €150 in consecutive contactless transactions before your PIN is required

To reset the cumulative limit, insert your card into a payment terminal and enter your PIN.

Apple Pay and Google Pay payments are not subject to these contactless limits because they use biometric or passcode authentication (Strong Customer Authentication).

How many accounts can I open?

Each Neno customer receives one business bank account with a dedicated Dutch IBAN.

In addition to your main IBAN, you can create Virtual IBANs — extra IBANs linked to the same account. These are useful for separating payments by client, project, or purpose, and for easier reconciliation. There is no hard limit on the number of Virtual IBANs you can create.

If you operate multiple companies (e.g. a holding and a werkmaatschappij), each company can open its own Neno account with a separate IBAN. Contact us at [email protected] to discuss your specific situation.

Adjusting your limits

You can view and adjust your card spending limits directly in the banking dashboard:

  1. Go to Cards in the sidebar

  2. Select the card you want to adjust

  3. Click Settings

  4. Adjust the spending limit and rolling period

  5. Click Save

If you need a higher spending limit than the default maximum, contact us at [email protected] and we will evaluate your request.
